This project aimed to conduct a Social Impact Assessment (SIA) and develop a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Plan for MSPL and AISL’s steel plants in Karnataka. The focus was on assessing the socio-economic impacts of the industrial activities and creating a CSR plan to support the local communities. The SIA provided a detailed analysis of the social and economic conditions, while the CSR plan aimed to address identified issues and promote sustainable development.
Our Approach
The approach involved extensive fieldwork, including surveys and interviews, to gather data on the socio-economic conditions of the affected communities. The Social Impact Assessment (SIA) addressed key aspects such as health, education, income levels and social infrastructure. Based on these findings, a CSR plan was developed to tackle the critical issues identified. The plan featured initiatives such as healthcare services, educational support, infrastructure development and skill development programs. The project emphasized stakeholder engagement and community involvement to ensure that CSR activities were well-aligned with local needs and priorities. Continuous monitoring and evaluation were implemented to assess the impact and effectiveness of the interventions. Key components include:
